How long does Real Estate Blogging really take?

Real estate blogging otherwise referred to as real estate content marketing is a time consuming process that, if done right, produces tremendous results.

Many real estate agents set up a website and a blog because they’ve heard or read somewhere that it provides a high return on investment. They’re carried away with the benefits of real estate blogging such as:

  • Increased leads
  • Higher search engine rankings and
  • Perceived authority

What they failed to understand is that real estate blogging, like any other type of blogging, takes time. When you want to go into real estate blogging, you need to consider how much time you really have to invest because the only way to get the full benefits associated with blogging is to invest your time and energy.

Some of the most time consuming tasks associated with real estate content marketing includes:

  • Brainstorming on what topic to write about that will generate interest
  • Researching the topic so that you can provide accurate information
  • Writing the blog post in a clear and concise manner takes time and dedication
  • Designing the blog images that will make the blog post more appealing to your readers
  • Promoting the blog post so as to get more people to read it and share with their own social circle thereby creating more traction.

As a real estate agent, we can imagine how busy your average day must be. Finding time to allocate between your clients, your listings and your office is a handful. Adding real estate marketing to that list is nearly impossible.

  • If you get stuck with deciding what topic to write about; jot down your client’s questions and turn the answers into a blog post. There is a high possibility that other people are looking for answers to the same questions as well.
  • Save time on your research by only writing on a topic you’re familiar with, otherwise it will show in your writing. If you really do have to write about a topic you’re not familiar with; dedicate at least 6 hours to an in-depth research. Most times, you will end up with more information to use within your blog post; that is good. Just make sure your points flow and you don’t lose your readers along the way.
  • Even the best writers suffer from writers block, so don’t beat yourself over the fact that you’ve sat down to write a blog post and don’t know where to start. Usually, if you follow the steps above you should know what to write about, it is writing that first sentence that is sometimes hard. If you face this situation, go for a walk to clear your head and by the time you come back, you will feel the creative juices flowing.
  • Editing your blog post image will take you a lot of time; especially if you are posting 2 to 4 blog posts per week. If this is the case, you can get a freelance graphics designer to create a bunch of images for you and all you just have to do is focus on your writing.
  • Promoting your blog image is another time consuming task, albeit a very important one. No matter how great your content is; if nobody reads it, you will not get any return on investment. Spend as much time as possible promoting your content with Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter.
